The PATCHS Toolbar is usually installed for you automatically by your IT team. Please check if you have an icon called 'Patchs Toolbar' on your desktop before trying to install it yourself. You will need administrator privileges to install the toolbar.

How to Install the Patchs Toolbar
To install the Patchs Toolbar you should:
- Click this Patchs Toolbar Link to download the installer.
- Locate the downloaded file in your folder and click "Install" and click "Yes" to allow the software to make changes to your device.
- Once installed, you'll find this Patchs Toolbar icon on your desktop:
- Then, depending on the system you use for your practice:
- Login to SystmOne; or
- Login to EMIS
- The toolbar will launch a browser window from where you log into Patchs:
- Click on the practice you want to use the Toolbar with:
- The toolbar icons will then display in blue to show they are active and available for use.
- Once you have the Patchs Toolbar installed, set up Single Sign On to ensure you get message notifications on your toolbar.
How to Enable the Patchs Toolbar
To enable the Patchs Toolbar, please ensure that:
- The latest Patchs Toolbar is installed on all practice computers. (Your local IT team can download the installer here.)
- Staff users who use SSO reset their toolbar settings.
Here’s how to reset the toolbar:
- Login to Patchs.
- Navigate to your Patchs "Toolbar Settings" page.
- Click the “Reset Patchs toolbar” button.
- Follow this by clicking the “Setup Single Sign-On” button to re-establish SSO.
Depending how you want to use the Toolbar, you can always choose between these options:
- Open each message in a new browser tab (old version)
- Have a popup within the same window for messages and video consultations (new version)

How to Enable Auto-Start on Login for the Patchs Toolbar
To get the Patchs Toolbar to open up automatically each time you log onto your computer, follow these steps:
1. Find the Patchs Toolbar icon on your desktop, right-click and select Copy.
2. Press the Windows logo key + R, then type shell:startup, then select OK. This opens the Startup folder.
3. Right-click in the Startup folder and select Paste.
Note: If Patchs Toolbar opens in Internet Explorer, change your default browser.
Microsoft discontinued support for Internet Explorer in June 2022, and Patchs should not be accessed on it.
To change your browser, follow these steps:
- In the Windows search bar type 'default apps', and click the 'Default apps' application which appears.
- Find the 'Web browser' section and click on 'Internet Explorer'.
- Choose a modern web browser (Chrome, Edge, or Firefox) from the list of options.
- Close and re-open the Patchs Toolbar. It should now open in the browser you selected in step 3.
