What is PATCHS AI Mental Health?
PATCHS AI Mental Health identifies patient requests relating to mental health problems. As soon as requests are submitted by a patient, PATCHS flags whether or not it thinks the request is related to mental health, suggests a SNOMED code to be filed with the request into EMIS, and asks the patient to complete a GAD-7 (for anxiety) and PHQ-9 (for depression) questionnaire.
How does PATCHS AI Mental Health work?
PATCHS AI Mental Health works in a similar way to PATCHS AI Triage: it analyses patient requests using Deep Learning, which is a kind of Machine Learning. It is not a simple keyword search, or inflexible clinical guideline algorithm.
What should I do if I see a suggestion from PATCHS AI Mental Health?
If you agree with the suggestion made by PATCHS then there's no need to do anything - just process the request as you would normally.
If you disagree with the suggestion made by PATCHS you should simply delete the suggested SNOMED code. Because PATCHS is constantly learning, this will help it correct its mistakes in future.
What are the benefits of PATCHS AI Mental Health?
Without PATCHS AI Mental Health, clinicians would need to identify the medical condition and add the SNOMED code to EMIS manually. Advantages of PATCHS doing this instead are that PATCHS:
- Is quicker at making a decision than a human
- Reduces the workload of clinicians
